Adult Beginner Sewing (Machine) Course - 3 x 3hr classes - MAY - Friday 10am-1pm on 7, 14 and 21 May 2021 - 4 person maximum
Join me for a super fun and relaxing beginner sewing (machine) course, or the perfect refresher if you haven’t sewn for a while (perhaps since year 7 textiles).
Over 3 weeks you will learn how to use a sewing machine, including threading and setting it up, the best ways to feed fabric, and complete make two main projects - a tote bag and an apron.
Week One: This is all about introducing the sewing machine, getting started and sewing a couple of fun small projects like a pin cushion, mask and a scrunchie (hair tie).
Week Two: We will cut and sew a simple tote bag, using french seams to encase the raw edges.
Week Three: We will cut and sew a simple apron, with a pocket and ties.
Throughout the three weeks you will also learn tips and tricks to cutting fabric, the importance of pressing during the sewing process and have lots of laughs and tea as well!
All materials for week one are provided. We will then go through the materials required for Weeks 2 and 3 during the first class so you can buy all the things you need. We can supply tote bag supplies for an additional cost for Week Two if required.
Classes will run from 10am - 1pm on the following Fridays:
7th, 14th and 21st May 2021
REQUIREMENTS: Closed footwear for safety.
You may also bring your own machine if you would like to sew on it (from WEEK TWO ONLY) but I do have new machines in the studio to use. Machines must be Australian compliant (no adaptors please) and in good working order.
FOUR PERSON MAXIMUM FOR THIS CLASS. We also need a minimum of 2 students to run this class. Covid safe principles apply at our studio.
If sold out or you can’t attend on a Friday, please email me (Liz) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can connect you with any additional dates/ courses.
Class held at our Craft Studio - Studio D, 12 Denawen Ave, Castle Cove.
